Behind the Scenes Video of ‘Below the Beltway’ Movie

On Vimeo, videographer Nelson Cuellar put together a short behind the scenes clip of the shoot that shows some footage, behind the scenes moments and interviews from Below the Beltway, an independent film shot on RED in DC last summer that I worked on.

The film stars Tate Donovan, Kip Pardue, Spencer Garrett, and Sarah Clarke and is a comedy that follows the journey of a lobbyist who fell from the top of his game and is struggling to get back his respect in a town that is dominated by power.

‘Below the Beltway’ was also featured on Ace of Cakes after the star of that show, Duff Goldman, had a cameo. The film has many big stars and I felt honored to be a part of the production. While I have yet to see the film, the script was funny, paced well and was truly brought to life in a great way by the cast and crew. More information on IMDB.

I also wish to thank Nelson Cuellar for making the video and thank Gavin Peretti (1st Assistant Director on the film) for leading me towards it.

If any of my fellow crew or anybody else knows anything of the status of the film or where it can be seen, please contact me or leave a comment!

I find looking at other slates to be extremely helpful. When I was first starting out as a 2nd AC, it was useful to see how others applied the principles I had learned about slating. So let's take a look at twelve completed clapperboards.

Today is Labor Day in the United States and, as we recognize this national holiday dedicated to the achievements of the American workforce, it's important to acknowledge that the crew in the film industry – the labor – hold more skill, talent, and power than is being recognized and rewarded.
